Below are rates for various types of publications:
- Catalogs/Directories $2.00-$4.00 USD per page
- Trade books $2.50-$4.50 USD per page
- Textbooks $3.00-$4.50 USD per page
- Scholarly $3.00-$8.00 USD per page
Some factors that affect the rate are: density and complexity of the material, depth of indexing required, page size and format.
Index depth:
- Very light 1-2 entries per page
- Light 3-5 entries per page
- Average 6-8 entries per page
- Moderate 8-10 entries per page
- Exhaustive 10+ entries per page
Proofreading rates
- Book proofreading rates are between $2.00 and $6.00 USD per page.
- Website and other online materials- a per hour rate or a flat fee can be negotiated.
